ABOUT ME
My name is Tim Wrate, 26, from Sydney, Australia. I’ve developed a keen interest in Photography since I bought a little panasonic for a trip to Thailand in 2007. The photography bug was contagious, and after a bit of deliberation, bought my first DSLR in late 2008. In 2010, I took a giant leap into the world of medium format film photography. The rest, they say, is history…
Over the past 2 years I have seen and felt my photography evolve into something that I am very proud of. The focus of my photography currently resides in panoramic landscape photography with an emphasis on capturing stunning light. This means a lot of early mornings and late afternoons, but there is something special about being in a beautiful place at a time of day that few people get the privilege of witnessing.
I find inspiration for my photographs through the awe-inspiring landscapes that my native Australia has to offer, whether it be in my home town of Sydney, in the outback or on the coast… I have been fortunate enough to have travelled throughout parts of Australia over the past 12 months, enjoying photographic trips to the Great Ocean Road, the Outback of the NT and South-west WA. I have trips to the Snowy Mountains and Tassie in the pipeline, so please stay tuned!
I trust that you will enjoy looking through my shots!
Tim

Hi Tim.
Nice to see you have a photoblog too.
I’ve just added yours to my blogroll at http://xenedis.wordpress.com, and look forward to reading your blog.
It looks like you and I have a similar approach, so it’ll be good to bounce ideas of each other.
Good Morning Time
I’ve just come across your blog and wish to take up the offer on how you processed the beach/rocks image under the Power of Processing headline on the 05/09.
My images are all tired and appear as your primary shots out of the camera.
All the good gear is at hand but still i am disappointed with my results.
Hope you can assist .
Regards
Roger Coyne
.. i felt like i just read about myself, ha, we are so very similar

But that is all soon to change, as I recently bought a medium format film camera!
Hey Tim, Just met your parents at Christian’s Margaret River Gallery, lovely people….. I think they are expecting some beautiful images from you for their wall haha!! Hope you enjoyed Christian’s course in Tassie.

Hi Tim, thanks mate for your comment on my site, there are more images coming as I get to them. Glad to see you are using a 617, I love using mine and have had a lot of fun with both my old Fiji G617 and now my Linhof that I bought of Rod Thomas.
Cheers,
Casey
For some reason I could nt reply to your email, so I’ll post it here.
Burke River, mmmmmmmmm.
Not the easiest place to find, I have nt been here in a good 5 years.
There is no kayaking tours, you would need your own.
The Burke river is in the Haast pass (the road that goes from Haast (west Coast) to Wanaka). From what I remember this place is up stream from the road. There is a place to park, but if your driving to fast you’ll miss it. Its not sign posted. I could nt tell you exactly where it is, its a long twisting road and a lot of it looks the same.
The Haast Pass road is very impressive and there are waterfalls and river stops all the way through. Also a stop at the ‘Blue Pool’ which is a very clear pool of water.
I suppose it depends on if you have time to look for the river, also if its raining in the surrounding mountains, the river will not be as clear and can also be dangerous.
Sorry I can nt be of that much help.
I’m sure you will enjoy that road, just drive slow (let the locals pass you) and do some exploring if you have the time.
Have a great time, I wish I had 5 weeks of photographing vacation.
Enjoy the snowy mountains
Regards
Michael
