Why landscapes?

On a recent photographic trip to Western Australia, I found myself by myself on an isolated beach with no sign of any other people for miles. It got me thinking. What exactly attracts me to landscape photography?

There is something special about being in a beautiful place at a beautiful time of day. That’s exactly why I like landscape photography. It forces you to slow down and appreciate the things around us. There is something special about being in a beautiful place at a beautiful time of day. It forces us to slow down and appreciate the things around us… The stunning light cast from a setting sun, the sound of a rushing waterfall, the explosion of colour when the sun rises over the horizon. That is why I love landscape photography…

I was on a beach, somewhere between Sugarloaf Rock and Cape Naturaliste, with the last rays of the day’s sun cutting through a storm cloud. Not a road for miles, not a person for further, not even a footprint in the sand. Incredible.
